MORNING ROUTINE FOR DRY SKIN CARE

Dry skin means skin that can’t take care of itself or protect itself from the environment. When the skin is dry, very small cracks appear in the outer layer. And the necessary moisture of the skin comes out through these cracks. Due to this, the skin feels tight, looks dull, loses elasticity, and shows flaky patches and redness. If this sounds familiar to you, then you have dry skin. For dry skin, in the morning, the skin should be prepared for the whole day to keep it protected. Let’s talk today about how to take care of dry skin right after waking up in the morning.

1. Cleansing the skin

Skincare starts with cleansing the skin. When cleansing dry skin, be careful not to over-cleanse, as it strips the skin of its natural moisture. At first, I used to over-cleanse myself for extra clean skin. As a result, even after I thoroughly cleansed my skin, it would be dry before noon. So care should be taken not to over-cleanse while cleaning the skin.

When buying a cleanser for dry skin, choose one that is gentle and hydrating. For dry skin, definitely choose a non-foamy, oil-based and creamy texture cleanser. This type of cleanser will keep the outer layer of your skin intact and remove impurities inside the skin. Many people don’t use an exfoliator regularly on dry skin, causing the skin to look flaky and patchy. Dry skin should use an exfoliator containing AHAs at least once a week.

2. Providing skin hydration

There are a few steps to follow to maintain proper skin hydration levels. These are discussed below one by one.

Toner

After cleansing the skin, it should be locked in by ensuring it provides the necessary hydration. The best idea for this is to use a good face mist or toner before applying serum or moisturizer. This will be the first step in your moisturization regimen, further enhancing your skin’s hydration plan. When it comes to toners, I use ones that contain ceramides rather than acid-based toners because they blend well with my skin.

Serum

Vitamin C serum is the best option for dry skin. To make it more effective, layer the vitamin C serum with hyaluronic acid. By doing this, skin moisture will be maintained for a long time, and fine lines and wrinkles will appear later.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer comes in the final step of hydration. It locks the serum into the skin. Depending on the environment, you can choose a moisturizer with SPF, or you can apply sunscreen separately after the moisturizer. I prefer the former because it seems more hassle-free to me. When looking for a moisturizer for dry skin, be sure to use one that contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and niacinamide.

Eye cream

Dry skin means the area around the eyes is drier than the face. A facial moisturizer is not enough for this area. Fine lines and wrinkles are first seen in this area. So if you wake up in the morning and apply a good eye cream to the eye area, it is possible to prevent fine lines.

3. Ensuring skin protection

After confirming everything, apply sunscreen. It should be applied regardless of whether the skin is dry or not. Proper sun protection can protect the skin from the damage of the sun’s ultraviolet rays and keep it healthy. Many people just apply a moisturizer with SPF and then nothing else, but this is not a very effective way. If you want to protect the skin from sun damage, it is important to apply sunscreen separately. You can use either chemical or physical sunscreen that suits your skin. When choosing a sunscreen, make sure it is not below SPF 50. While applying sunscreen, it should be noted that it should not only be applied to the face but also to the neck.

Here are some important things to take care of dry skin overall-

  • Do not use hot water while cleaning the face. It destroys the skin’s natural oil barrier. If necessary, use warm water.
  • Apply moisturizer while your face is wet or damp; don’t wait until it’s completely dry.
  • Avoid products that contain alcohol.
  • Use sunscreen regularly.

In the end, what I feel is that dry skin needs a little extra care, nothing more. If your skin is beautiful, you can be confident in all activities. That’s why you can spend a little time on skincare every day, right? Maintaining a skincare routine both in the morning and at night will keep your skin healthy and glowing, and you won’t have to worry about your dry skin.
