WHY DOES SKIN BECOME DRY AND ROUGH? KNOW ITS CAUSES AND REMEDIES

“My skin is very oily but rough!”
“My skin is very sensitive; every time I use something, I get a rash and itches!”
“My skin is so oily, but there is no glow. Instead, my fine lines are showing before age!”
“My skin is very dry, but I also get rough and dull skin breakouts!”

These are the problems of many patients who come to me. Those problems are very common. There are probably many of you who are now thinking, “Oh! This is my problem!”

Anyway! We all know more or less that there are 4 types of skin: dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, and combination skin. However, those who suffer from the above problems are often confused about their skin type. People with dry skin usually suffer from a lack of adequate oil or sebum throughout the year. As a result, the natural glow of their skin is much less than that of normal or oily skin. But the good thing about this is that the risk of acne is very low for this type of skin.

But do people with other skin types never have dry skin? There may be many among you whose skin is very oily, but the moisture level of the skin is very low, and there is no glow. Rather, the impression of age is appearing on the face prematurely.

Causes of Dry and Rough Skin:

Now the question is, why is this? The cause is dehydrated skin. This type of skin problem reduces the water retention capacity of the skin. For healthy skin, it is important to maintain the balance of water and oil deep in the skin. As a result of dehydration, the normal barrier function of the skin, or the ability to prevent external dust and germs from entering deep into the skin, is essentially destroyed. Along with this, the skin’s normal cell turnover or dead cell removal ability is also lost.

Disadvantages of dry and rough skin:

Now know what the harmful aspects are! Its disadvantages are:

  • External substances easily enter the skin and cause skin irritation.
  • Makes the skin sensitive. As a result, problems arise in the use of makeup or cosmetics.
  • Causes skin rash.
  • Causes tightness in the skin.
  • Easily peels off.
  • Reduces the glow of the skin, causing the skin to look dull.
  • Due to the decrease in moisture level of the skin, more sebum is secreted. As a result, the risk of acne increases (even with dry skin).
  • Skin feels dry and oily at the same time.

Now you understand what the main reason behind the problems we talked about in the beginning is!

Now the question is, how do you know if your skin is dry or dehydrated?

The answer is the pinch test. The same test that is done to measure the level of dehydration in the body should also be done in this case. For this test, Pinch the skin on the upper surface of the hand. If the skin returns to its previous position easily, your skin’s moisture or water content is correct. Maybe your skin type is dry. And if the skin returns to its previous state very slowly, then you should understand that your skin is dehydrated.

How to cure dry and rough skin:

Use regular moisturizer:

Many people think, “My skin is oily, so why should I use moisturizer?”

In fact, it is equally important to keep the skin moisturized throughout the year. A good moisturizer seals the water inside the skin. As a result, on the one hand, the water level is correct, and on the other hand, due to the skin being hydrated, sebum secretion is under control. So make a habit of using water-based moisturizers during summer.

Use regular moisturizer:

Especially vitamins B3 and B5 work very well against dehydration and wrinkles. Vitamin B3 deficiency can be made up for by chicken breast meat, liver, tuna fish, or beans. On the other hand, chicken liver, corn, cauliflower, lettuce, and even yogurt can be ideal sources of vitamin B5.

Use sunscreen daily:

Prolonged exposure to the sun causes the water on the surface of the skin to evaporate. As a result, moisturizing becomes more important for sunburned skin. To avoid this problem, make a habit of using a broad-spectrum sunblock regularly.

Finally, I would say, skin is the highlight of your beauty. So the more beautiful and vibrant the skin is, the healthier and more beautiful you will be. No special skincare routine or expensive products, but just a little regular care can get you the skin you want. So take care of your skin every day! Stay alive! Stay beautiful!
